What's inside

Open the map and pins lead to place records with the history and context Lore currently has for that building, bridge or square. Coverage varies by place and city: some records include a fuller dossier and timeline, while others are still being expanded. Beyond the landmarks there are walking tours, local culture, notable people, ghost stories, and oddities tied to the streets around you.

You can log the places you've been, write your own lore on them, and build a travel passport that fills in as you cross continents.

How it's made

Lore combines structured place data, public historical material, and editorial context. Source links and verification are incomplete across the current catalog, and records may contain gaps or errors. Treat Lore as a starting point for exploration, not an authoritative reference. The catalog is being audited over time, with attribution and corrections added as records are reviewed. Legends and ghost stories are framed as lore, not established fact.

How Lore is funded

Lore is funded first by Lore+, an optional membership for deeper place dossiers, curated walking tours, and audio narration.

Lore does not run pop-ups, coupon walls, or interruptive advertising. If partner bookings or affiliate offers are introduced later, they must be clearly disclosed and kept separate from the editorial record.

Who makes it

Lore is built and maintained by an independent developer in New Jersey, USA. It's a small, self-funded project — not a venture-backed company.
